The pandemic has drastically affected some market sectors. However, to some others, consumption is increasing more and more, especially with online shopping. In a recent survey on the website https://gkpb.com.br/72215/pesquisa-consumo-brasileiro-2021/, we can observe that this year some sectors increased their consumption significantly compared to the third quarter of last year, including in some holidays and special dates.

I’ve heard from some people that these dates are “all capitalism’s invention for people to spend money”. As with everything else, there are always two sides to be analyzed in every situation. I agree and I think it’s fair to say that there are some specific dates that serve to honor and celebrate special moments in family and with people who we love. Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Easter, for example, are dates when there is always a lot of demand for gifts, which is also good for the development and growth of the economy. The downside of this is that some people end up getting into debt and doing everything possible because they feel obligated to buy things. The facilities that the stores provide us to accept credit cards and to make innumerable installment payments, gives us a false sense of power.

However, with each installment, the person ends up getting more involved, and when he realizes, he is already in debt and some even stop buying really important and essential things just to meet the expectations of the date. Therefore, consumption must be done consciously. One’s financial condition should be the biggest factor to be taken into account. People need to be aware that in order to please They do not need to accumulate debt. There are ways to make these dates special moments in a simple and low-cost way. In addition, the ideal, regardless of financial conditions, is to think about waste. Avoid excess purchases that can further increase the volume of junk and unused items.
